Whew, it's been a long time!

First, thanks to all of you who have sent me such sweet emails. I didn't mean to drop off the face of the earth. I just don't have the time I had before to do blogging stuff. I'm going to switch this blog over to Wordpress shortly here and link to it from my website so I better actually keep that one up.

Homeschooling's been great. We're so happy living in the country again.

I've still been taking pictures and uploading them to flickr. Here are some to share over the last few months.

Here are a couple from a pb shoot in December. Gosh, it's been a long time.

Got my Westcott softbox that month too and had fun with that.

I (er, I mean Clara) got her first pettiskirt in February.
well, she won't wear the petti at home but she will at grandma's!

I will TRY to make time to catch up on everyone's blogs. I have read some the last few months but rarely made a comment.

My little sister

I don't feel like blogging but I just can't take this sad music on here anymore. I'm feeling obsessed about coming online and looking at pictures of my dog but I can't stand it. I need to think about something else for a while and stop feeling so guilty about him.

Oh, and THANK YOU for all your kind, sweet comments. They REALLY did make me feel better.

This was a practice session with my little sis and the d200. We drove around trying to find somewhere we could get some good backlighting. The sun set faster than I expected and I ended up stopping in a cul de sac and lucky for me, she was happy to pose in the middle of this street and not care who was watching, lol.

Clara joined in the fun too.

More texture here and I should have turned her hands in so you only see their profile.

Look at the focus here! I LOVE this camera's accurate focus!!!

Clara with her AUntie again. Clara loves her so much, she has called her Happy Day for a long time. She couldn't say her real name so she called her Happy, which morphed into Happy Day, lol.

Saying goodbye

I didn't think saying goodbye to Ziggy would be this hard. The whole family gathered around him at the vet. He thumped his tail twice when he saw Nicholas and he rested his head on Christopher's feet. He was such a good dog. He was the best running partner, for years he was the one who would accompany me at night on trips out to the garage when I was scared, he was always gentle with the kids and he was ever patient and grateful for any attention.

We rescued him from the local pound when he was very young and he has been a faithful companion ever since. The kids all cried themselves to sleep tonight.

This is the only other picture I can find of him on flickr.

Our old vet had this on his office wall and I always loved it.

A Dog's Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

I'll miss you, old boy. :(

My poor dog. :(

My old black lab is very ill tonight. Since we've moved here, he's been treated at the emergency vet for internal bleeding, he ran away and was missing for TEN days and then was subsequently attacked on a hike with me by another dog. :( I'm so mad at myself for not taking him into the vet sooner but with money being tight, I was waiting for the symptoms to reappear so the vet could actually see them before I went back in.

I'm staying up with him tonight and we're heading to the vet first thing in the morning. I'm so sad and I feel so guilty. I really hope he's ok. He's been such a good, patient, loyal friend. He loves nothing more than his tennis ball and he's too weak to run for it anymore.

Here's a picture of him last year. He was, of course, waiting for me to throw the ball.

And another of him in healthier times.

Please think positive thoughts or pray for my Ziggy!

Good grief!

Ok, it's been forever but I don't want every blog post to be me moaning about how long it's been and how bad I suck at blogging, LOL, so I'll just leave it. Thanks you guys for all your sweet comments. I do read them and appreciate them. I'll understand if you take me off your bloglines (sob) because I haven't really responded on anyone else's blogs either. We're getting ready for a camping trip on the beach so I may not even have time to catch up on that yet.

I have SO many pictures to share, just so many. At the risk of looking once again like I favor my youngest child (which I most certainly do NOT, she is the only one who will cooperate), I'll share several of Clara.

I took her and the rental d200 to a local park. There is an historic town jail and other fun buildings adjacent to the park so we hung out there and played.

Oh wait, this was one of the first handful of shots I took after the d200 arrived. She was in the shed, picking at some spilled cat food.

Now here we are at the park. You'll notice that the Italian hat has made another appearance, lol.

My favorite! Capturing spontaneous moments like this is SO much easier with the awesome focal points on the d200.
